Weekend Fun

During the closing prayer of our Relief Society meeting this week, the sister giving the benediction declined to use the microphone. I think she prayed in her first language, Russian, but I couldn’t really hear her because just at that moment, the Call to Prayer began streaming in through the windows. It seemed like the Arabic chant was the closing prayer for our meeting.



I was surprised one Sabbath to hear the sacrament prayer spoken in Arabic. Two brethren from Bethlehem were ordained to the office of Elder at District Conference on November 6. Up until this time, two couple missionaries and the primary and Relief Society presidents have been providing the leadership for sacrament meeting in a member’s home in Bethlehem each Sunday. This important development may open the door for the Bethlehem group to someday become a branch.

Amanda was invited to a playgroup with her friend Vincenza and several other girls from the school.  Amanda is the only American in her class, aside from her teacher and the TA.  Her classmates are from Spain, France, Africa, England, Sweden, and more. Most of their parents work for their nations’ consulates or the UN.   They had a fun time playing hide and seek, screaming, and throwing plastic food.  Meanwhile the grownups talked, snacked, and talked some more.
